Towards the skies

Thanks to the special thermals, paragliders and hang gliders feel as at homeon the Gerlitzen as the many model aeroplane fans.

Paragliding and hang gliding

The starting sites are near the Gerlitzen Gipfelbahn chairlift mountain station, not far from the hotel and on the summit. Perfect thermals, wonderful views over the Carinthian lakes and the stunning mountainous landscape make the Gerlitzen one of the most scenic mountains for flying in Austria. Starts can be made in all directions, except to the north.

Tandem flights

At an experienced tandem pilot’s side you will have the possibility to experience the Carinthian region of mountains and lakes from a bird’s eye view. Nearby there is a paragliding school and several tandem flightproviders.

Model aeroplane flying

Hardly any pilot can resist the attraction of Alpine gliding. From large gliders and F3B/F3J models to hand launch gliders – here you can make everything fly. The wide starting and landing sites and the optimum Alpine thermals make the Gerlitzen also perfectly suited for beginners of Alpine gliding.
